Substance Use Disorder
Our team specializes in treating Substance Use Disorder, which is the technical term for what most folks refer to as “addiction.” Substance Use Disorder (or “SUD”) is a complex disorder that affects and actually alters the brain, ultimately impacting behavior, emotions, executive functioning, and impulse control.

How Addiction Affects the Brain
Repeated substance use begins to change our brain functioning, making it more difficult for people to resist urges or cravings.
Coping in Recovery
We also see that when people are attempting to abstain from substance use, other maladaptive coping mechanisms may crop up.
